What information is required for transfers from abroad to Türkiye?
For these transactions, you will need the SWIFT code (KTEFTRIS), BIC code (205), and the IBAN.
I made a purchase on an overseas online shopping site, but the amount debited from my card/account appears higher than the purchase amount. Why?
After the purchase, the transaction amount is kept in authorization and converted into TRY when it is posted to your account statement, which may result in an exchange rate difference.
Because potential exchange rate differences cannot be predicted in advance, an amount higher than the purchase amount may be temporarily blocked. When the transaction is reflected in your account statement, any excess amount is refunded to your demand deposit account.
What do the Charge Types mean?
BEN, SHA, and OUR are codes used to indicate who bears the banking charges in international wire transfers.
BEN: All charges, including our bank’s charges, are borne by the beneficiary and deducted from the transfer amount.
SHA: Our bank’s charges are borne by the sender; correspondent bank charges are borne by the beneficiary.
OUR: All charges are borne by the sender.
Your International Card Spending
Your spending abroad is indexed and shown in pending authorizations at our bank’s foreign currency buying rate on the transaction booking date.
When the clearing record of the transaction reaches our bank, it is reflected in your account movements at our bank’s foreign currency buying rate on that date. Due to changes in the foreign currency buying rate, the amount shown in pending authorizations may differ from the amount reflected in your account movements.
How long does a Foreign Currency Transfer via the SWIFT platform take?
If the transaction is submitted before 17:00, the foreign currency transfer can be completed within 2 business days.
For transactions submitted after 17:00, the average completion time is 3 business days.
What happens if the SWIFT code is incorrect?
If the SWIFT code is entered incorrectly, the bank will reject the transaction, and the amount will be refunded to the sender’s account.
Will foreign currency transferred via SWIFT be received on weekends?
The SWIFT system is not operational on weekends.
